I am running for the Klein ISD Board of Trustees because I believe every student deserves an education that prepares them for a lifetime of success. As an 18-year Klein ISD resident and native Houstonian, my journey in education has been defined by a deep commitment to "The Long View"—the belief that our work today must be measured by the doors it opens for students tomorrow.
For more than 32 years, I have dedicated my career to serving students and families as an educator, school counselor, transition professional, business owner, and now as an Adjunct Professor with Lone Star College’s lifePATH program at the Tomball and Montgomery campuses. Those experiences have shaped how I will serve as your trustee. I have seen firsthand that a diploma is not the finish line. It's the starting line. I have seen what happens when students are prepared for life after graduation—and I have seen what happens when they are not.
I would be honored to serve as your board member. I hope you will join me in building a stronger future for every Klein ISD student.

Family is at the heart of who I am. My husband, Ellis, and I have been married for 33 years, building a life grounded in family, education, service, and preparing the next generation for success. We have called the Klein ISD community home for 18 years, raising our family and building deep connections to the schools and community we serve.
Ellis is an engineer, and we are the proud parents of two sons. Our son works as a job coach, supporting students with unique abilities as they build skills for independence and employment. Our late son, Cory, remains forever in our hearts and an important part of our family’s story. I am also the proud grandmother of one grandson.
Our family’s connection to education extends into Klein ISD. My brother serves as a paraeducator at Klein Oak High School, and my nephews attended Klein Forest High School. For me, public education isn’t simply a professional interest—it’s personal. Our schools touch generations of families, including my own, and that is one reason I believe so strongly in taking the long view when making decisions about their future.
Every board decision begins with one question:

As the owner of Rock Solid Employment, a Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) Community Rehabilitation Provider (CRP), I have proudly partnered with Klein ISD to provide Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) to more than 50 students. Through this work, I have helped students secure competitive employment, paid work experiences, and develop the workplace, career, and life skills needed to thrive after graduation.
This is "The Long View" in action: ensuring students leave our schools prepared not only with a diploma, but with the skills, experience, and confidence to build successful futures.

Every board decision should be clear, understandable, and focused on better student outcomes.
That's why I created S.U.N. Governance—a simple way to evaluate how the Board serves students, staff, families, and our community.
S.U.N. Governance— means every board decision should be easy to find, easy to understand, and clearly connected to better student outcomes.
S — See It
Board decisions should never feel hidden or confusing.
Families should be able to easily find information, understand what the Board is considering, and stay informed about decisions that affect our schools.
U — Understand It
Open communication means more than sharing information—it means explaining it.
I will support clear communication, so parents, staff, and community members understand what was decided, why it was decided, and how it impacts students.
N — Navigate It
Good governance doesn't stop with making decisions—it helps people understand where those decisions are leading.
I will ask two simple questions:

Can families clearly see where this decision is leading?

Will this better prepare students for tomorrow?
If the answer to either question isn't clear, we should keep asking questions until it is.
That's how S.U.N. Governance—supports The Long View—by ensuring every decision points toward stronger student outcomes and a brighter future for every student.
Before every vote, I will ask two questions:
Can I explain this decision to a community?
Can I clearly show how it improves student outcomes?
If the answer is no, there's more work to do.
How I Will Serve as Your Trustee
Good ideas matter, but lasting progress happens when a Board works together.
I understand the difference between governance and administration. Trustees don't manage the day-to-day operations of the district. Our role is to set direction, establish priorities, ask thoughtful questions, and hold the district accountable for student outcomes.
I know one trustee cannot direct staff or implement programs. Real progress happens by building consensus and working collaboratively with fellow trustees and the Superintendent.
Leadership isn't about having all the answers. It's about asking the right questions, and keeping every decision focused on better outcomes for students. That's how I will lead—with collaboration, accountability, and "The Long View."

I will advocate for the S.U.N. Dashboard—a public tool that allows the community to see board priorities, track progress, and understand how every major decision connects to measurable student outcomes.

Me postulo para la Junta Directiva de Klein ISD porque creo que cada estudiante merece una educación que lo prepare para una vida llena de oportunidades y éxito. Como residente de la comunidad de Klein ISD durante 18 años y originaria de Houston, mi trayectoria en la educación se ha caracterizado por un profundo compromiso con “La Visión a Largo Plazo”: la convicción de que el trabajo que hacemos hoy debe medirse por las oportunidades que abre para nuestros estudiantes mañana.
Durante más de 32 años, he dedicado mi carrera a servir a estudiantes y familias como educadora, consejera escolar, profesional de transición, propietaria de una empresa y, actualmente, profesora adjunta en el programa lifePATH de Lone Star College, en los campus de Tomball y Montgomery. Estas experiencias han moldeado la manera en que serviré como su representante en la Junta Directiva.
He comprobado de primera mano que un diploma no es la meta final. Es el punto de partida. He visto lo que sucede cuando los estudiantes están preparados para la vida después de graduarse, y también he visto lo que sucede cuando no lo están.

La familia es una parte fundamental de quien soy. Mi esposo, Ellis, y yo hemos estado casados durante 33 años, construyendo una vida basada en la familia, la educación, el servicio y la preparación de la próxima generación para alcanzar el éxito. Durante 18 años, hemos llamado hogar a la comunidad de Klein ISD, criando a nuestra familia y estableciendo fuertes vínculos con las escuelas y la comunidad a la que servimos.
Ellis es ingeniero y somos orgullosos padres de dos hijos. Nuestro hijo trabaja como entrenador laboral, apoyando a estudiantes con habilidades únicas mientras desarrollan destrezas para lograr una mayor independencia y prepararse para el empleo. Nuestro difunto hijo, Cory, permanece para siempre en nuestros corazones y es una parte importante de la historia de nuestra familia. También soy una orgullosa abuela de un nieto.
La conexión de nuestra familia con la educación también se extiende a Klein ISD. Mi hermano trabaja como paraeducador en Klein Oak High School, y mis sobrinos asistieron a Klein Forest High School.

Como propietaria de Rock Solid Employment, un Proveedor de Rehabilitación Comunitaria (CRP) de la Comisión de la Fuerza Laboral de Texas (TWC), me enorgullece haber colaborado con Klein ISD para brindar Servicios de Transición Previa al Empleo (Pre-ETS) a más de 50 estudiantes.
A través de este trabajo, he ayudado a estudiantes a obtener empleos competitivos, experiencias laborales remuneradas y a desarrollar las habilidades laborales, profesionales y de vida necesarias para prosperar después de graduarse.
Esto es “The Long View” — La Visión a Largo Plazo— en acción: asegurar que los estudiantes salgan de nuestras escuelas no solo con un diploma, sino también con las habilidades, la experiencia y la confianza necesarias para construir un futuro exitoso.

Cada decisión de la Junta debe ser clara, comprensible y enfocada en lograr mejores resultados para los estudiantes.

S.U.N. Governance significa que cada decisión de la Junta debe ser fácil de encontrar, fácil de entender y estar claramente relacionada con mejores resultados para los estudiantes.
S — See It | Verlo
Las decisiones de la Junta nunca deben parecer ocultas ni ser confusas.
Las familias deben poder encontrar fácilmente la información, comprender lo que la Junta está considerando y mantenerse informadas sobre las decisiones que afectan a nuestras escuelas.

La comunicación abierta significa más que simplemente compartir información; significa explicarla.

Haré dos preguntas sencillas:

Si la respuesta a cualquiera de estas preguntas no está clara, debemos seguir haciendo preguntas hasta obtener claridad.
Así es como S.U.N. Governance apoya The Long View: asegurando que cada decisión nos conduzca hacia mejores resultados para los estudiantes y un futuro más prometedor para cada uno de ellos.
Cómo Serviré Como Su Representante en la Junta
Las buenas ideas son importantes, pero el progreso duradero ocurre cuando una Junta trabaja unida.
Entiendo la diferencia entre gobernanza y administración. Los miembros de la Junta no administran las operaciones diarias del distrito. Nuestro papel es establecer el rumbo, definir prioridades, hacer preguntas importantes y responsabilizar al distrito por los resultados de los estudiantes.
Sé que un solo miembro de la Junta no puede dirigir al personal ni implementar programas por sí solo. El verdadero progreso se logra creando consenso y trabajando en colaboración con los demás miembros de la Junta y el Superintendente.
El liderazgo no consiste en tener todas las respuestas. Consiste en hacer las preguntas correctas y mantener cada decisión enfocada en lograr mejores resultados para los estudiantes.
Así es como serviré: con colaboración, responsabilidad y “The Long View” — La Visión a Largo Plazo.

La buena gobernanza no termina con una votación; comienza con la comprensión.
Promoveré la creación del Panel S.U.N., una herramienta pública que permitirá a la comunidad conocer las prioridades de la Junta, dar seguimiento al progreso y comprender cómo cada decisión importante se relaciona con resultados medibles para los estudiantes.
La buena gobernanza requiere claridad. Significa ayudar a la comunidad a comprender las decisiones de la Junta, las razones detrás de ellas y los resultados estudiantiles que se busca alcanzar.
