I am running for the Klein ISD Board of Trustees because I believe every student deserves an education that prepares them for a lifetime of success. As an 18-year Klein ISD resident and native Houstonian, my journey in education has been defined by a deep commitment to "The Long View"—the belief that our work today must be measured by the doors it opens for students tomorrow.
For more than 32 years, I have dedicated my life to serving students as an educator, counselor, transition professional, business owner, and Adjunct Professor. Those experiences have shaped how I will serve as your trustee. I have seen firsthand that a diploma is not the finish line. It's the starting line. I have seen what happens when students are prepared for life after graduation—and I have seen what happens when they are not.
I am honored to be here, and I hope you'll join me as we build a stronger future for every student in Klein ISD.

As the owner of Rock Solid Employment, a Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) Community Rehabilitation Provider (CRP), I have proudly partnered with Klein ISD to provide Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) to more than 50 students. Through this work, I have helped students secure competitive employment, paid work experiences, and develop the workplace, career, and life skills needed to thrive after graduation.
This is "The Long View" in action: ensuring students leave our schools prepared not only with a diploma, but with the skills, experience, and confidence to build successful futures.

Every board decision should be clear, understandable, and focused on better student outcomes.
That's why I created S.U.N. Governance—a simple way to evaluate how the Board serves students, staff, families, and our community.
S.U.N. Governance— means every board decision should be easy to find, easy to understand, and clearly connected to better student outcomes.
S — See It
Board decisions should never feel hidden or confusing.
Families should be able to easily find information, understand what the Board is considering, and stay informed about decisions that affect our schools.
U — Understand It
Open communication means more than sharing information—it means explaining it.
I will support clear communication, so parents, staff, and community members understand what was decided, why it was decided, and how it impacts students.
N — Navigate It
Good governance doesn't stop with making decisions—it helps people understand where those decisions are leading.
I will ask two simple questions:

Can families clearly see where this decision is leading?

Will this better prepare students for tomorrow?
If the answer to either question isn't clear, we should keep asking questions until it is.
That's how S.U.N. Governance—supports The Long View—by ensuring every decision points toward stronger student outcomes and a brighter future for every student.
Before every vote, I will ask two questions:
Can I explain this decision to a community?
Can I clearly show how it improves student outcomes?
If the answer is no, there's more work to do.
How I Will Serve as Your Trustee
Good ideas matter, but lasting progress happens when a Board works together.
I understand the difference between governance and administration. Trustees don't manage the day-to-day operations of the district. Our role is to set direction, establish priorities, ask thoughtful questions, and hold the district accountable for student outcomes.
I know one trustee cannot direct staff or implement programs. Real progress happens by building consensus and working collaboratively with fellow trustees and the Superintendent.
Leadership isn't about having all the answers. It's about asking the right questions, and keeping every decision focused on better outcomes for students. That's how I will lead—with collaboration, accountability, and "The Long View."

Good governance doesn’t end with a vote—it begins with understanding.
I will advocate for the S.U.N. Dashboard —a public tool that allows the community to see board priorities, track progress, and understand how every major decision connects to measurable student outcomes.
Good governance requires clarity. It means helping the community understand board decisions, the reasons behind them, and the student outcomes they are designed to achieve.

Rooted in Family. Connected to Klein.
Family is at the heart of who I am. My husband, Ellis, and I have been married for 33 years, building a life grounded in family, education, service, and preparing the next generation for success. We have called the Klein ISD community home for 18 years, raising our family and building deep connections to the schools and community we serve.
Ellis is an engineer, and we are the proud parents of two sons. Our son works as a job coach, supporting students with unique abilities as they build skills for independence and employment. Our late son, Cory, remains forever in our hearts and an important part of our family’s story. I am also the proud grandmother of one grandson.
Our family’s connection to education extends into Klein ISD. My brother serves as a paraeducator at Klein Oak High School, and my nephews attended Klein Forest High School. For me, public education isn’t simply a professional interest—it’s personal. Our schools touch generations of families, including my own, and that is one reason I believe so strongly in taking the long view when making decisions about their future.
